Honoring Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury
Built in the late 19th century George Vulliamy and Sir Joseph Bazalgette, the Shaftesbury Avenue was named after Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, who died one year before the avenue was finished. Shaftesbury Avenue is considered London's West End theatre district.
Aside theatre, attractions include the beginning of the Chinatown, and some of the best Chinese restaurants in London. Shaftesbury Avenue is also included in all Harry Potter tours, as it was the filming location for _Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows_.
