Description
A passion for opulence
Now hosted at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection boasts some of the finest gold, silver, Italian mosaics, gold boxes and enamel portrait miniatures in the world. The collection was displayed for a long period at the Somerset House.
The Gilbert Collection was given to Britain by Sir Arthur Gilbert (1913-2001) himself, in 1996. Selections from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection are now on display to the public in Rooms 70-73 at the V&A.
