Description

Keeper of the Crown Jewels

The Jewel House at the Tower of London has been used for the secure storage of the Crown Jewels since the early 14th century. The Crown Jewels, part of the Royal Collection, are displayed to millions of visitors here, and guarded by Yeomen Warders (‘Beefeaters’).

The Jewel House appears to be the safest location for the Crown Jewels. Many attempts have been made to steal these, notably by Colonel Blood in 1671, but none have succeeded.
