Description
A Jack the Ripper tour in French puts you in the East End of 1888, when a run of murders frightened London and left a mystery that has never been solved. For two hours a Ripperologist guide leads the group across Whitechapel and Spitalfields, the streets of the crimes, and turns the walk into an investigation you take part in.
The stories are not only about the killings. You learn who the women were, how they lived and what everyday life was like in one of the poorest districts of Victorian London. Then come the suspects, which you weigh up with your own suspect cards and photographs of the evidence: a doctor, a butcher, a figure from high society, or a man the police hardly noticed? Your guide separates what is known from the myths the press and public fear built around the case.
- Mitre Square and Petticoat Lane
- Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Christ Church
- the Ten Bells pub
Every guest also gets the Ripperologist's Companion, an interactive case file that can be opened in a browser using your booking reference. The murder sites stay locked in it until you have stood on the ground, and the whole file opens once the tour is over. The walk is entirely outdoors and contains graphic details; under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
