Description

This world-renowned museum covers the entire history of tennis, showcasing its evolution from its French precursor jeu de paume (which used an open hand) to the modern-day serves of today's most talented players. It’s a state-of-the-art exhibit, featuring plenty of video clips and a projection of John McEnroe in the Wimbledon dressing room. The museum boasts over 20,000 objects, recounting the history of lawn tennis. These include trophies, medals and player memorabilia, as well as traditional equipment and fashion styles. For example, female tennis players' outfits from 1881 weighed up to an oppressive 4.9kg! In contrast, visitors can also check out Maria Sharapova's ultra-lightweight 2004 Ladies Singles outfit that she wore when she won the title. For many, however, the ultimate highlight of the museum is the chance to view Centre Court from the 360-degree viewing box.
