Description
In 1845, the East End of London gained its own 'Regent's Park': an 86-hectare area of tranquil lakes, monuments, tennis courts, flower beds and lawns. This was the result of a petition signed by 30,000 people, presented to Queen Victoria by a local MP. It soon came to be known as the 'People's Park', and saw many rallies held there over the years.
