Description

Opened in 1841, Kensal Green Cemetery was the last of the 'Magnificent Seven' suburban cemeteries established by an act of Parliament in response to London's booming population. This 13-hectare site served as a final resting place for 270,000 souls until it was closed to burials in 1966. Since then, it has been transformed into a park and nature reserve. Visitors today are struck by its haunting beauty, with its crumbling Victorian monuments cloaked by vegetation.
