The cosmopolitan district of Notting Hill was made popular worldwide by the 1999 homonym film starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. The district is known for its attractive terraces, the large Victorian townhouses, and high-end shopping and restaurants.
Since 1965 the streets of Notting Hill become alive with Caribbean tunes, during the Notting Hill Carnival, held every August. This is one of the largest street festivals in Europe.
