Public square, with a small park and a 19th century statue of William Shakespeare
Leicester Square is known as being the centre of London's cinema land - and it is surrounded by floor mounted plaques with film stars names and cast handprints. The major cinemas here are Odeon Leicester Square, Empire, Odeon West End and Vue.
Cinemas are not the only attractions in Leicester Square. Fridays and Saturdays the place becomes busy with partygoers - who are headed for the Sound nightclub and other clubs in the surrounding area. The Square also boasts a small park, in the centre of which you can see a statue of William Shakespeare surrounded by dolphins.
