Description

Kensington Palace, constructed in 1605, saw many changes in England's monarchy. William and Mary of Orange chose it as their favorite royal residence in 1689 and retained it until George III moved to Buckingham Palace. The house still serves as a residence for members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Its King's and Queen's State Apartments are open to the public, and it continues to be an important attraction in the country.
