Description
Former residences of English royalty
Kensington Palace was once the residence of English monarchs. Royalty once fled the dampness of the residence along the Thames. Today the palace is the home of various members of the royal family as well as a popular tourist attraction. This is where Prince Charles and Princess Di lived for a time.
Not since the death of King George II, who died in 1760, has Kensington been used as the official royal residence. The State Apartments are open for tours, but unfortunately those reserved for Charles and Di are off limits. The adjacent Kensington Gardens are also a popular attraction.
