Description

Originally constructed by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey in 1515, Hampton Court Palace is England's most expansive and grand Tudor structure. Before his disfavor by Henry VIII in the same year, Wolsey was coerced to give the palace away to the king. In the 17th century, Christopher Wren designed an extension to the palace, creating an enchanting combination of Tudor and "restrained baroque" architecture. Spend a day exploring the 24 hectares of riverside gardens at Hampton Court Palace, which includes a 300-year-old maze, and you will not be disappointed.
