World Heritage Site

Greenwich's history is rich and exciting. The village gave its name to the Greenwich Meridian (0° longitude) and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT - originally referring to mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich).

Maritime Greenwich was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. The buildings along the riverfront, Greenwich park and the Georgian and Victorian town centre are among the top attractions of this historic village. Don't miss the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, Ranger's House, the Greenwich market and other attractions.
