Description
Georgian terraced house, home to Dickens between 1837-1839
Charles Dickens and his wife Catherine lived here with the eldest three of their ten children for two years. It's here where he completed The Pickwick Papers, wrote Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby, and worked on Barnaby Rudge. The Dickens House Museum reflects this prolific period and more.
The Dickens House Museum holds the world's most important collection of paintings, rare editions, manuscripts, original furniture and other items relating to the life and work of Charles Dickens, including the famous Dickens' Dream portrait by R.W. Buss.
