Description
Windsor Castle tickets open the doors of a royal home that people still live in. William the Conqueror began the fortress in the 11th century, and later monarchs, among them Henry II, Charles II and George IV, kept altering it. A multimedia guide leads you around at your own speed.
The visit centres on the State Apartments, filled with royal collection pieces: canvases by Holbein, Rubens and Van Dyck, alongside English and French furnishings. Through winter, George IV's private Semi-State Rooms join the route.

Set aside about 2.5 to 3 hours. Expect a climb up to the castle and long distances inside, so comfortable shoes help. Photos and filming are banned in the State Apartments, the Semi-State Rooms and the chapel. Transfers and a live guide are extra, and the ticket cannot be exchanged for a yearly pass.
