Description
The Westminster Cathedral LUMINISCENCE concert turns the church itself into the screen. You take a seat inside the cathedral on Victoria Street, and video mapping and spatial sound start working on the domes and mosaics, so the architecture shifts from scene to scene while the music builds.
The singing is live, by the Lux Aeterna choir, with pieces by Beethoven, Verdi, Debussy, Vivaldi and Bach, among others. A script by Tim Whitnall, written for the show and voiced by Hugh Bonneville, tells the story of London and of this cathedral, one of its most important.
- A seated performance of about 50 minutes
- 360-degree projection across the cathedral's interior
- Live choir and narration
All ages can come, and children aged 0 to 5 go free, though they still need a ticket. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Afterwards you are back on Victoria Street, close to Victoria Station and the Underground stops, which makes it easy to carry on with the rest of central London.
