Description

This Harry Potter walking tour in Oxford, led by a university student, visits the Bodleian Library's Hogwarts infirmary hall and New College, with film trivia and a quiz along the way.

A Harry Potter walking tour in Oxford starts in the centre of the city, where your guide, a student of the university, meets the group before heading for the Bodleian Library. One of its halls served as the Hogwarts infirmary, and you can picture the infirmary beds in place and look up at the sculpted beasts and biblical carvings that appear in many of the films.

From there the walk moves on to one or two of the oldest colleges, into the cloisters and rooms that doubled as Hogwarts' dark interiors. New College, which inspired several scenes, is part of the visit, and entry to it and to the Divinity School is included.

  • the Bodleian Library hall used as the infirmary
  • New College and its cloisters
  • other filming locations along the route

Expect trivia about the characters and the making of the movies, plus a Harry Potter quiz to test how well you know them. The guide also covers Oxford's place in children's literature, with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on one side and The Hobbit on the other. The tour lasts about an hour and a half. It is independent and not affiliated with Warner Bros. In summer the Divinity School can be shut, and entry to Christ Church is not included.
