Description
On this Jack the Ripper pub tour you walk the East End streets where the murders happened, and the pubs become part of the story. For two hours the guide takes you through Spitalfields and Whitechapel, following the paths of the victims and the suspects past dark alleys and old markets.
The route begins at the White Hart, once home to a prime suspect, then goes by the site of The Frying Pan, where the first victim had her last known drink. You stop at The Ten Bells, the pub where Annie Chapman and Mary Kelly were seen alive for the last time, and you can step inside with a drink in hand.
Along the way the guide shows the late-1800s East End as it was: overcrowded slums, narrow lanes and the lasting shadow of the Victorian era around Spitalfields Market. These are real locations tied to the case, so the stories are told where they happened.
- Spitalfields Market and its dark Victorian past
- The Ten Bells, a pub tied to two of the victims
- The Bell, near Mitre Square, where the tour ends
